Bark Tanned Deerskins

Deerskins tanned with locally harvested oak bark at our tannery here in southern Oregon. These have not been dyed or given a finish oiling or waxing so that you can finish each project however you like (much like with commercial veg tan). Use a non-darkening balm to bring out the grain’s luster but keep the color lighter. Use a darkening balm (anything with neatsfoot oil or lanolin in it) to get a darker oak color right away. These hides will naturally patina and darken with age making each piece uniquely beautiful.
