Seriously LOVE this for salmon fish skins….start slow and low bark-o-meter reading first day…scud with mason jar lid…either dull or sharp side.

Then add more to taste for that “just right puckering in mouth yummy tasting sensation”….yes i love the flavor also.

I dont test the bk reading….i test all by taste to mouth…

The longer you let it sit in solution the easier it is to “soften” and dress to a veryyy nice luxuriant supple fish skins ready for fun project or gifting to someone…

5-7 days seems a good amount of time for salmon…since i leave skins in longer this is a great amount of time to leave it alone and do its thang…

Skins come out more natural color, then darken as i dress them…reckon due to the oxidation of the fats and collagen…

1 pound is likely enough for 50+ fish skins…

Thanks Matt

I am not a tanner, but an anachronistic mediaeval scribe, and this produced 3 quarts of ink, an entire year's worth, with some left over for further batches in the future. It is very suitable for such an endeavour, for it made a VERY fine professional grade ink. The tannin concentration is very good, and the price was phenomenal. Should I be in want at a later date, I shall not hesitate to place my order.
